Dear Editor,
Amy Kamp's column on voter suppression efforts by some cowardly Republicans [“
Notes on Kamp: Cowards,” News, June 3] is correct as far as it goes. However, if you dig deeper into the conservative psyche you find that there is a darker reason for using every trick in the book to keep the vote away from certain people. Conservatives, regardless of if they were Democratic conservatives before the Sixties or the Republican conservatives of today, are the political descendants of the aristocrats of the divine right monarchies. They believe that only aristocrats should have the power to rule because that is what they think that their god wants for the human race. The rest of us stupid non-aristocrats are supposed to shut up and accept their rule. Let's disappoint them by educating ourselves on current political issues and voting every time we get the chance.
