Capital Metro Gets it Right

RECEIVED Sun., June 1, 2014

Dear Editor,
I would like to give kudos to Capital Metro for moving the Downtown corridor transit routes from Congress to Guadalupe (southbound) and Lavaca (northbound) streets ["Cap Metro Quits Congress," Newsdesk, June 3]. Change is not easy, even when it is for the good, and this will take some getting used to. Cap Metro has done a very good job of informing riders about this change, which will occur during the X Games and thereafter be permanent. It should improve on-time performance because routes that pass through Downtown will no longer be affected by the many Congress Avenue closures that occur in this fair city on an almost weekly basis.
I am not a huge fan of Cap Metro, and in fact I disagree with many of the decisions the staff has made this past year, but this time, I have to admit, they got it right.
