Why Ignore the Austin String Band Festival?

RECEIVED Thu., Oct. 25, 2012

Dear Editor,
Why does The Austin Chronicle continue to ignore the Austin String Band Festival? It is a small festival of traditional music in October that has been held for the past seven years.
It is an absolute jewel of a festival put together by an incredible music community that is essentially unknown to most of Austin. I have gone every year, and the talent the good folks at the Austin Friends of Traditional Music bring continues to astound and inspire me.
Do you want underground music? There is nothing more underground than old-time fiddling!
I think both the Chronicle and Austin at large need to listen up to what is going on at Camp Ben McCulloch in mid-October. Then again, maybe it is better that it is ignored, that way, it stays underground.
Never mind,
Howard Rains
Austin fiddler and artist
