Why Did the Buildings Fall Straight Down?

Dear Editor,
Michael Ventura's article [“Letters at 3AM: The Mob, 9/11, and Your Garbage,” Oct. 21] has convinced me that World Trade Center buildings were constructed of untested concrete that was probably less than the specs called for. I hope that he also has a theory explaining why all three WTC buildings fell straight down into their own footprints even though it is said that they were not brought down by controlled detonations.
I have read The 9/11 Commission Report (567 pp., paper), The 9/11 Investigations by Stephen Strasser and Craig R. Whitney (580 pp., paper), and many more things than space will allow me to list, and the issue is totally ignored in all of these official reports.
Until this issue of the buildings falling straight down is put to rest, I will always wonder.
