Too Hot Outside for It To Be Hot Inside

RECEIVED Tue., Aug. 30, 2011

Dear Austin Chronicle,
I am a pepper and hot sauce lover from way back … I've attended most of The Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festivals over the last couple of decades. You know, it's hot outside. The temperature for today's festival was 109 degrees. I know of several/many pepper lovers who have stopped attending the festival due to the horrid heat at the end of August that has been a stay for the last several years. Would I be out of line for suggesting that the festival be rescheduled for perhaps October or March? I suspect October would be a better choice, as it would roughly coincide with the end of the pepper growing season. Please, please – consider rescheduling.

[Editor's note: Tomato and pepper season is in the summer and not in October, and while we would love to move it to a cooler month, it wouldn't be the ideal time for this kind of festival … and hopefully next year we won't be breaking any temperature records!]
