Sanctimonious Hypocrisy Is Pathetic

RECEIVED Sun., Sept. 5, 2010

Dear Editor,
Re: “The Hightower Report” [News, Sept. 3]: As is standard operating procedure for subjective all-powerful-government leftists like Mr. Hightower, he blatantly ignores the fact that his precious God-state high priests indict themselves by willingly going to the financial lobbying “dark side.” And he reserves condemnation only for “the Wall Street banksters.” Moreover, he neglects to acknowledge the ultimate complicit actions of our own government in “America's ongoing economic catastrophe,” i.e., Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the profligate accumulation of massive unsustainable debt.
What Mr. Hightower is morally and intellectually denying is the objective reality that power tends to corrupt everyone – especially those in the cult of high political power. Indeed, his willful blindness and sanctimonious hypocrisy is pathetic.
