Dear Editor,
Michael Ventura always gives the reader something to chew on, and this week's was one of his best [“
Letters @ 3AM,” Aug. 27]. Having just published my own memoir, I am completely in tune with his advice to any writer and anyone else who
wants to write: Sit yourself down and write it, worrying not a whit about style or grammar. If it comes from the heart, it will have an unique style.
I would like to observe as an aside that the medical community, among others, consistently overlooks what may be the treasure trove of modern medicine: They want studies, and they don't want anecdotes. Listen up, medical community, what society has learned is one of the things you should be trying to find out.
One other thought is prompted by some advice I heard in a sermon “a hundred years ago”: If you have something to say, say it now.
