Neither Fair nor Balanced

RECEIVED Wed., Jan. 13, 2010

Dear Editor,
Do you like to consider your paper fair and balanced? I'm sure you'd like to believe that. Well, let me draw your attention to p.14 of your Jan. 8 issue where you list the three Republican gubernatorial candidates [“And They're Off!,” News]. Here's how you list them: “Gov. Rick Perry, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, and secessionist tea-bagger Debra Medina.” Now, doesn't that sound just a little bit biased? I would not have had a problem with it if it would have read like this: Liar and pro-toll-road Gov. Rick Perry, liar and pro-banker-bailout Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, and secessionist tea-bagger Debra Medina. Now that would be fair and balanced.
Sincerely,
George Steidel
