Dear
Austin Chronicle,
On Friday, January 26, 2007 [“
Postmarks” online], I wrote a letter to your publication outlining a number of criticisms of the current incarnation of
Battlestar Galactica. Well, with the series finale of
BSG now digesting in the collective gut of the sci-fi-fan community like a rancid kolach, I can say that my claim that I am not, in fact, a kook has been vindicated. If that theistic offal is what passes for science fiction these days, then I can understand why NBC Universal would choose to rebrand the Sci Fi Channel as “Siffy” or “Swiffer” or whatever nonsense. It's clear that there is no "science" to its "fiction.”
And to Ronald D. Moore – congratulations on the most flagrant and blatant use of deus ex machina since Euripides. Truly, you are a pioneer in the field of modern science-fiction hackery.
Bravo.
