Concerned About Electronic Voting Machines

RECEIVED Wed., July 30, 2008

Dear Chronicle,
Nice review of the Netroots Nation conference. While turning Texas blue ["Dem Convention: Turning Texas Blue," News, April 4] is a worthy goal, I am concerned that it is impossible due to the widespread use of electronic voting machines. It is a shame that progressives ignore the gory details of the election process as they campaign for their causes.
We sure missed seeing the Chronicle reporters at a film screening at Netroots, Stealing America: Vote by Vote (www.stealingamericathemovie.org).
It was very well received by the 75 moviegoers who attended. National election integrity group Election Defense Alliance (www.electiondefensealliance.org) worked with Austin-based VoteRescue (www.voterescue.org) to introduce the film and take questions after the screening.
Stay tuned, dear readers, as the film was released in New York Aug. 1, and is scheduled to play in Austin Sept. 5-11 at the Regal Arbor Cinema.
Meanwhile, the Austin Film Festival just screened another good film about election fraud: Uncounted: The New Math of American Elections – by Emmy award-winning director David Earnhardt -- shows how election fraud changed the outcome of the 2004 and 2006 elections and threatens the outcome of elections in 2008 (www.uncountedthemovie.com).
Voters need to stay educated about this critical issue. Suggestions for action are available on the web, and don't forget about the book Hacked! High Tech Election Theft in America: 11 Experts Expose the Truth written by local experts Abbe DeLozier and Vickie Karp (www.hackedelections.com).
Books and films are a good way to learn more about election theft and what you can do about it. Also tune in to VoteRescue Radio, at a new time, Fridays 6-8pm on 90.1FM in the Austin area and on the web at www.wtprn.com.
VoteRescue will see you at the movies!
