President Bush a Megalomaniac

RECEIVED Wed., May 14, 2008

Dear Editor,
Megalomania is, according to Webster’s Dictionary, “a mania for great or grandiose performance” or “a delusional mental disorder that is marked by feelings of personal omnipotence and grandeur.” Honestly, does this description fit anybody in the news that you know? There is a fine line between megalomania and self-confidence. President Bush is supremely confident and ignores not only sound advice from qualified advisers but also ignores blatant facts and overwhelming trends and even our national values. The question now becomes, can we afford another megalomaniac in the White House? We are asked again not to believe our own lying eyes or the truthful politician. Do you like this idea of being told that you are too stupid to know what is best for your needs or the needs of your own family? There is no information getting out, and there is a divide between the haves and the have-nots. People are pumping hundreds of dollars into their gas tanks monthly, maybe weekly, and are being told that the economy is strong or at worst, slowing down. Do you believe the news and politicians, or do you believe your own lying eyes? The same goes for health care and the war. Are we at war? I forget. Do you realize that we have lost a soldier every day on average this month and spend $5,000 a second in Iraq? The president was reported saying it was his “dream” to be on the front line and told this to serving soldiers. Soldiers fight wars because they believe that they must. Soldiers have nightmares of war but dreams of peace. I guarantee all soldiers everywhere in every army dream of peace because the fantasy of war is a myth perpetrated by the ignorant people in power. If there were any reasonable coverage and reporting – or even a photograph of coffins returning – the reality of war would overpower the conservative myth. Or is it my own lying eyes again?
