Dear Editor, Come now, fellow citizens, and sing praises unto KUT. Our commercial-free radio station (“be sure to go online and make your donation now”), which relies solely on listener support (“at this holiday season, if you donate your car now, the religious – or nonreligious – leader of your choice will shower blessings, boons, or good thoughts upon you”). Remembering years past when (“call now”), due to lack of support, this station went dark for long periods of time, we needed to fully endow it (“there is still time”) during its spring and fall fundraising seasons. But now, praise be, fundraising is 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. And neither religious holidays nor New Year’s Day are exempt! (“Just a few hours left to get your tax deduction.”) Dig down deep, Austin and surrounding communities – and, yes, even you out in San Angelo – and donate every 15 minutes around the clock (“Santa couldn’t reach 13 percent of homes due to junk cars you could have given to us”), so we can have (“now that the turkey is all eaten, isn’t it time to get rid of that junker sitting …”) commercial (“donate now and take that tax deduction”) free (“listener-supported commercial-free …”) radio. Because, if you don’t, some actual Texans may overtake this station and make it what it once was – a commercial-free station. (“Call now, operators are standing by.”)
