Yes, It Hardly Matters

RECEIVED Sun., June 17, 2007

Dear Editor,
Re: Pretenders reissues [“Reissues,” Music, June 15]: It isn't my place to defend Chrissie Hynde's honor. But Raoul Hernandez was mistaken when he stated that Chrissie had "intimate realtionships" with both of her deceased guitarists.
Her pre-Pretenders relationship with bassist Pete Farndon is well known. But I don't think there has ever been any story of her having been "intimate" with the first Pretenders lead gutarist James Honeyman-Scott.
And what does it matter anyway? The Pretenders music is still great more than 20 years after its release.
Jerry Elmas
[Raoul Hernandez replies: The Hynde/Honeyman-Scott relationship has also been widely reported over the decades, but indeed, it hardly matters.]
