Ventura Jumping to Conclusions

RECEIVED Mon., Nov. 27, 2006

Dear Editor,
Re: Michael Ventura's opposition to Barack Obama ["Letters at 3am," Nov. 24]: Ventura might want to check more than the one Obama speech referred to in his article (which was not that different from Harry Reid's assurance of his interest in working with the administration, or Nancy Pelosi's comment, "partnership not partisanship") in asserting that he is the same as Joe Lieberman. In October of 2002, while a state senator, Obama gave a strong speech in opposition to the war in Iraq and has consistently opposed the war, unlike Lieberman and Hillary Clinton. And, except for the war in Iraq issue, most liberals would probably agree with Lieberman on other issues. Ventura needs to do a better job of research before jumping to conclusions.
