His Opinion Is Different From Mine, So He Is a Corrupt Monster
RECEIVED Fri., Sept. 29, 2006
Dear Editor, Re: The letter to the editor in the Chronicle Sept. 22 [“Postmarks”] praising Kimberly Reeves' coverage [“Naked City,” News, Sept. 15] of planning efforts (CAMPO's and Envision Central Texas') and lauding SH 130. When someone writes a letter with that slant, they're more than likely making money off the tolls. So I Googled the author, John Langmore, and found him to be up to his eyeballs in transportation [issues]. He helped formulate and draft state Rep. Mike Krusee's HB 3588, which destroyed accountability of transportation projects, and is busy making money as a “transportation consultant,” though he has no education in this field. (Thanks Sal Costello of Muckraker for having this information handy). Usually, people who write letters in support of CAMPO/Envision Central Texas planning or tolls are feeding at the trough. The real news about our transportation situation is underneath the superficially public-spirited planning efforts of CAMPO and Envision Central Texas. The corruption, duplicity, and abuses of power by current planners and transportation policymakers will cause local suffering and horrible problems statewide for generations. The local toll plans will help fund the Trans-Texas Corridor, which will truly devastate Texas. The public surely needs some help from the media – by listening and reporting our side, or these monsters are going to continue to do irreparable damage.
Sincerely, Fancy Fairchild Member of Texans Against Tolls
