Golly gee, where to begin [“Postmarks,” June 9]? 1) The gentrification of East Austin did not begin in the 1980s; it began when the power plant was closed, roughly five years ago. 2) Mostly white outsiders? This from a woman claiming to be progressive? 3) It's racist to spend money in East Austin? I bet Ms. Quintanilla votes solid Democrat; I bet you cash money she never voted Republican. So, let me get this right. A proud Democrat, who votes Democrat in lockstep, is now complaining about the “racist” policies of the people she voted for. Perfect. This from a woman who calls me an idiot? At least I'm not a dishonest, inaccurate racist, like proud progressive Quintanilla. Ms. Quintanilla, please tell me your ignorant racism is not indicative of the mindset of East Austin. Please.
