Contesting Zinn's Point on Slavery

RECEIVED Mon., Feb. 13, 2006

Dear Editor,
In your interview with Howard Zinn ["Howard Zinn on Human Nature and History," News, Feb. 10], he made some far-reaching claims that don't add up with historical fact. "This country was a slave-holding country after slavery had been abolished all over the world."
China did not officially abolish slavery until 1910, Korea in 1894, Brazil 1888. Also, why did the Paris Peace Conference following World War I have to deal with slavery issues? And the United Nations after World War II?
