Terms of Disagreement: 'Psychotic Liberalism,' 'Evil Ways,' and 'Sodomite'
RECEIVED Wed., Aug. 10, 2005
Dear Editor, When Amy Smith interviewed me a few years ago for a Chronicle “20 Years” column [“Letters at 20 Years,” Sept. 7, 2001], I told her one of the first reasons I denounced liberal psychosis in my youth was because liberals eat their own and have no tolerance for disagreement. When the browbeating guilt-trips and the brainwashing rhetoric doesn't work, liberals will shun you like some high school clique. So now that Louis Black is a pariah I can only guess that Lee Nichols has Black caged in some basement where the torture never stops. Maybe Black didn't even write that last babbling “Page Two” [July 15] that got such rave reviews. Maybe Lee and Karl Rove take turns guarding the cage for what is seen as a bipartisan greater good. We of the vast right-wing conspiracy have always known what the liberal-left in Austin is just now learning, Black has in fact fallen off the left edge in his search for a flat Earth. One can only hope ol' Louis is being treated well and gets better soon, or at least as well as can be expected. Or maybe, just maybe, Louis has had an epiphany and his psychotic liberalism is being exorcised from his tormented soul. Maybe he'll come back and fire every MoveOn.org sodomite at the Chronicle as he repents his evil ways. Instead of The Austin Chronicle it'll be The Good News Chronicle, Austin's new daily.
