Ignorance and Bigotry

Dear Editor,
In our county in New York, we have gay men and women who are foster parents. These foster parents are highly educated and highly motivated to help the neediest of our children. They work with our caseworkers, biological parents, and service providers to meet the needs of our children. We feel that we are very fortunate to have such qualified foster parents. I am sorry for the children and families in Texas if you enact a law to disqualify this group of people [“Bashing Gays and Children,” News, April 29]. Only ignorance and bigotry could account for such a foolish decision.
