Dear Editor, I am responding to the article about the firing of the senior producer for CBS because she interrupted CSI: NY to let the world know of Arafat's death ["TV Eye," Screens, Nov. 26]. I also would like to thank the unnamed female producer for her "overly aggressive" behavior. It makes me want to vomit all over myself when I think that the general public would rather watch their "very important" hourlong TV drama than learn about world events that could potentially have a direct effect on their lives. It's one thing to ignore your daily tedium by watching countless hours of vapid TV, but another to ignore huge moments in history. Also, coming from someone who spent a good four years in the trenches of production in New York City, I completely applaud this woman's courage to do such a thing. I'm pretty sure she knew she was going to get fired. You don't become a senior producer without firing someone who's done the same thing. But it's really assuring to know that one person, one time, became pro-active and thought, maybe minivan mom would like to know that Arafat died. At least someone is trying. Muchos kudos!
