Will Vote Against War Supporters (Even if That Helps Continue It)
RECEIVED Mon., Oct. 18, 2004
Dear Editor, I very much enjoyed the candor you displayed in your 2004 general election endorsements ["Endorsements," Oct. 15]. As a result of your article, I am voting for all three opposing candidates in the court of criminal appeals election. However, I was disappointed by your hasty endorsement of John Kerry and scant mention of the other three serious candidates in this race. It is astonishing to you that I don't see the urgency to vote Kerry, but it is even more astonishing to me that people don't see the urgency in voting for liberty, immediately. I cannot, in good conscience, vote for someone who ever supported that insane war or, more importantly, anyone who gives even the slightest pretense of again turning to government for solutions. Let's not keep up the facade; our government fails us. It is oppressive, a puppet of every corporate whim, and it is very much an international murderer. This government needs to be whittled down. I am voting for Libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik, the only candidate I can, in good conscience, vote for. I understand your position, and I'm sure, despite your aforementioned astonishment, that you pretty much understand me, too. Just know that voting for Kerry violates what I believe in. And, naive as it may be, I'd like to think that voting is still expressing what you believe in.
