Dear Editor, What is going on with the music scene in Austin? In the past two years there have been few, I don't want to say mainstream, but at least well-known bands that have come through here. They play Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio. Hell, even Lubbock and Corpus are getting better acts than we are. When I first moved here four years ago all kinds of bands (rock bands) were coming here. Now, unless they are major acts like Metallica or Incubus, we ain't getting jack. When bands do come here they are not promoted, case in point Drowning Pool at Stubb's. I expected a huge crowd and got there right when the doors opened expecting there to be a huge line. Nope, walked right in. There were only about 20 to 30 people. It wasn't until Flaw came on that the crowd got bigger. So what's the deal, do I have to move to San Antonio, since they get all the acts? Ninety-five percent of the bands I listen to that tour Texas do not come here. One hundred percent go to San Antonio. I thought this was the music capital of the world. Local bands only go so far; we need better acts. Let me know the deal.
