Dear Editor, My wife and I found ourselves in your beautiful city in June to pick up our son's belongings. He was attending the University of Texas-Austin as a graduate student when he became ill. After a year and a half of struggles he passed away unexpectedly. He didn't have much as a student in terms of possessions; nonetheless, as his father I felt compelled to bring them home. The plan was to fly to Austin, load a rental truck, and drive back to Wisconsin. Our biggest concern was whether my bad back and serious health problems would hold up for the trip. Well we got to the storage unit where his things were, wondering how we would ever get the truck loaded with just me and my bad back and my wife. Within five minutes a van drove up with several teenagers and one adult teacher from a Christian school looking to do one act of kindness on that particular day at that particular spot in Austin. Within an hour they had the truck loaded. It was as though someone was watching over us. We exchanged thank yous. They wouldn't accept any money for some ice cream or cool beverages; it was a hot day. They said a prayer and were on their way to swim. Gone just like that. We never really wrote down their names so we could write them a thank you. Our hope is that they read this and know that we consider them true angels. We also hope that for others reading this in Austin that this story warms their day in knowing that there are wonderful people living there. We also hope it restores one's faith knowing that there are people out there who believe in giving and are truly good samaritans.
Thank you, Gene and Tina Trester Menomonee Falls, Wis.
