Dear Editor, Recently I have heard a sound bite several times in which a Hollywood actor states that due to the "Bush tax cuts" he got something like a million dollar refund on his federal taxes. He then asks if anyone thinks this is fair, and of course no answer is shown in the sound bite. The answer is that of course it is fair for the actor to keep his money, and that he can choose who to give that extra money to, rather than having Bush or some nameless bureaucrat decide for him. He could even hire someone, a thing most Democrats wouldn't consider, but a thing that many small-business people/corporations do consider. The real argument against continuing the tax cuts is that the feds need funds to fight the war in Iraq. The increased federal spending on contracts to fight the war are pumping money into the economy. The real economic problem is the growing national debt; and a temporary rollback of the temporary tax cuts makes sense at higher economic levels.
