Has a Problem With the Hospital District

RECEIVED Fri., May 14, 2004

Dear Editor,
I understand the reasons for creating a hospital district in Travis County ["Hospital District Vote Brings Heavy Momentum," News, April 30]; that it will be good for Austin residents because it will force other Travis County residents to pay their fair share of taxes for our public health facilities; and how it will benefit our senior citizens because of an increased homestead exemption.
But I have a problem. I see all the doctors, nurses, and health care professionals telling me how important the hospital district is. And I can't help but remember how they lied to me about Proposition 12 and the medmal insurance "crisis."
