Okay, enough already: Yesterday marked the fifth year I have entered the Hot Sauce Festival. Granted, there are hundreds of sauces entered and some are actually very good. Each year I have a great time and learn more about making salsa. I have entered all three categories and this year entered a green sauce. Of course, I could go on about how many friends and neighbors rave about my sauce and even admit that I am biased – but I won't. Just tell me once and for all what the hell the judges are looking for! My sauce was awesome and it truly is frustrating not getting any recognition or feedback. Here's an idea: How about requiring the judges to provide a critique of each winning sauce and what they liked about it? Then publish the critique in your paper. This could potentially lead to better overall entries. Otherwise, it's just your word against us salsa chefs.
