Who? You must be an Austin Energy account holder to participate; Austin Energy will be compiling and quality-assuring all the data. Prizes will be awarded for:

Where? Read the rules and enter the challenge online at: austinchronicle.com/watt.


When? Prizes will be awarded after each month's results are tallied. Sign up before the 20th of each month to be eligible for that month's prizes and before Sept. 20 for the whole-summer prizes.

What is the Water Cooler Kill-a-Watter Challenge? Businesses may choose to combine their savings with those their employees are achieving at home. Simple instructions are online.


Neighborhoods? The kilowatt savings of all the challenge participants in your neighborhood will contribute to your neighborhood's overall savings, and you can visit the challenge Web site to compare your neighborhood to others when the challenge is under way. Neighborhoods will be defined as the city of Austin's neighborhood planning areas. See austinchronicle.com/watt/map for the full map or to see what neighborhood you're in.
