Big 12 Tourney Is Key in Horns' Quest for a Top Seed

Though they got back on track against Nebraska at home Tuesday night, the Longhorns will have to do a lot more than beat a bad team to make up for their stunning loss to Texas Tech over the weekend.
Though analysts were talking No. 1 seed as well as No. 1 rankings in the polls before the loss to Tech, Texas now is faced with one option if it wants a top seed in the Big Dance: win the Big 12 Tournament.
Starting next Thursday (the middle of UT's spring break), the conference meets up in Kansas City to determine who's the best. An automatic bid goes to the winner of the tourney, though that team will likely already be a high seed, so that aspect of the tournament doesn't really play a factor this year.
But, while Texas is still expected to win the Big 12 regular season because it holds the tiebreaker with Kansas, the tournament title could hold the key to a No. 1 seed during the NCAA tournament.
