Top priority of the summer: get tickets for the rescheduled 30th anniversary screening of Dazed and Confused, an unmissable event with cast and crew in attendance, presented by the Austin Film Society and Focus Features.

Yeah, we know, it's been 31 years since Richard Linklater took us all back to the last day of school at Austin's Robert E. Lee High in the summer of '76, and launched the careers of Jason London, Rory Cochrane, Parker Posey, Adam Goldberg, Milla Jovovich, Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey, Joey Lauren Adams, and Renée Zellweger to new heights. But there are extenuating circumstances.

AFS originally planned this screening for Sept. 16, 2023, but then the event had to be taken off the calendar due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. After all, you can't have the cast of one of the most beloved movies ever to come out of the Lone Star State have to cross the picket line for a screening. So AFS waited until the strike was over and everyone's schedules were clear before announcing a new date – Sept. 28 – and a new location. The original screening was booked in at the Waterloo Greenway at the Moody Amphitheater, but now it's going to take place in the air-conditioned majesty of the Paramount Theatre.

This rescheduled and relocated birthday screening will be a red carpet affair, giving the film a return to the screen where it debuted locally, and the kind of hoopla it never got on its original release. The night will include, not only a screening, but a special Q&A with Linklater and to-be-announced stars of the film.

Tickets will go on sale Friday, Aug. 2, with presale for AFS members and Focus Insiders. General admission tickets will be available for the mezzanine and balcony, while premium tickets will get you orchestra seating, exclusive merchandise, and an invite to the post-screening afterparty. All tickets purchased for the previously scheduled Waterloo Greenway screening will be honored.
