aGLIFF 25: Just a Tease

Kyle Henry's 'Fourplay,' Justin Vivian Bond, and more

Fourplay
Fourplay

Maybe you’ve already seen pieces of Kyle Henry’s omnibus film Fourplay, which explores “sexual triumph and travail … in four American cities,” but Austin’s first chance to spy the whole film is coming soon: It's been selected as the Centerpiece Film for the Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival.

aGLIFF announced today four titles plucked from its festival slate. In addition to Fourplay, they include: Opening Night Film Cloudburst, a road movie starring Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker as two nursing home lovers who head to Canada to marry; Closing Night Film My Brother the Devil, about homophobia in London’s Arab community (it won the Grand Jury Award at the 2012 L.A. Outfest); and Documentary Spotlight Call Me Kuchu, about the fight for LGBT rights in Uganda.

Also announced: special guests queer cinema pioneer Cheryl Dunye (The Watermelon Woman) and singer-songwriter/performance artist Justin Vivian Bond (aka Kiki of Kiki and Herb).

aGLIFF 25 runs Oct. 3-7 under the stewardship of new program director Curran Nault. More details to be found here.
