Wanda Sykes' Granny stands out in "Ice Age: Continental Drift"

Ice Age Continental Drift, the fourth go-round for this animation franchise, has met with mostly ho-hum reviews in its national release today. However, something about which most critics concur regards the lively touches contributed by several new characters – especially Granny, who is voiced by the great Wanda Sykes.
The Austin Chronicle's Kimberley Jones says in her review that even though "the party's gone on too long," Sykes is "a welcome addition, working an old-biddy bark to reliable comic effect."
In Austin two and a half months ago to perform her stand-up as the final headliner for the Moontower Comedy & Oddity Festival, Sykes spoke with our Robert Faires about her affection for live audiences. "You get that laugh, and there's nothing like it," she tells him. For more of Faires' interview, click on "You Get That Laugh ...," April 27, 2012.
