Did seeing the just-released trailer for the Duplass brothers' new comedy The Do-Deca-Pentathlon get you pumped? Turns out you won't have to wait all that long: The Austin Film Society's Best of the Fests program will sneak the film June 4, a whole month before its national release date.
Dubbed the DUPLASS-A-THON and held at the Alamo Drafthouse Village, the double feature night includes a 7pm showing of The Do-Deca-Pentathlon, which previously screened at SXSW 2012 and the Chronicle's Melanie Haupt called "funny, sensitive, and expertly acted/improvised, a loving portrait of a sibling rivalry with healing properties."
Then at 9pm, there will be a showcase of Mark and Jay Duplass' short films, including the painfully funny existential exercise, "This Is John"; Jay's recent doc about Austin musician Kevin Gant, "Kevin"; and a rare screening of "The New Brad," the brothers' first film short. Jay will be on hand for both screenings, and the shorts showcase will feature a performance by Gant.
