If you know film in Austin, then you know Bryan Poyser, whom the Chron dubbed the town's Best Film Resource back in our Best of Austin 2009 for his work as the director of artist services at the Austin Film Society. Well, when he isn't resourcing up a storm, he's making his own movies, including a new short for the USA Network.
In case you haven't been paying attention: USA knows characters, and to prove it, they've launched a series of short films called the Character Project, commissioning eight films from some of the most exciting independent voices out there today.
Poyser's contribution is the live-action short "The Fickle"; it stars Katie Aselton (director and star of The Freebie), as a woman cycling through lovers who don't quite make the cut.
The short will be airing on USA and screening in programs in select cities (alas, not ours), but starting tomorrow, you should be able to access it via this site.
A note to readers: Bold and uncensored, The Austin Chronicle has been Austin’s independent news source for over 40 years, expressing the community’s political and environmental concerns and supporting its active cultural scene.
