Frank J. Rivera. Go ahead, say it.

Well call me happy as a pink li'l pony in a garden full of unicorn stallions. It thrills me to no end when writers from Chronicles past get back in touch with new projects brimming. And when the fella is Frank J. Rivera, and the project is blogging for us, i.e., joining the Gay Place gang, well, that's just dandy!

Speaking of dandy: Frank J. Rivera was a mid-00s Chronicle contributor, intern, "Best of Austin" assistant ed, and all around great guy. A dapper dandy of a gentleman, if you will. He now works at KXAN, and his employer, in a commendably bold and forward-thinking move, will be running posts from Frank on his trip this weekend to the National Equality March in Washington, D.C.

While Frank is not directly going with the local Austin Join the Impact contingent, he will be connecting with them and reporting on their antics. KXAN has been kind enough to allow us to piggyback on this lovetrain and crosspost Frank's bloggery,

Check the Gay Place Blog for updates throughout the week.

Now, without further ado, by way of introduction, here's Frank:

Frank J. Rivera is a new media junkie, a recent development. Having finished his masters in Kentucky, he comes – excitedly – back to Austin and the Chronicle, having been an intern and occasional contributing writer back in the day. A day job at KXAN and time teaching at UT keep him pretty busy, but when Kate Messer calls, you answer...and say, "Hi Kate! Guhrl, lez talk about the hippie-haps." Frank enjoys memes, music, and messy situations. Walks on the beach and long conversations? Naw, he's just in it for the play. Holla!
