I See, You See, We All See UCC!
Gay-friendly churchy peeps host a benefit.
By Kate X Messer, 1:11AM, Fri. Nov. 16, 2007
Received a lovely invitation through the fiber optics today.
There's a new progressive, gay-cuddly church-type entity being launched (uplifted?) by local spiritual mover and soul-shaker Carla Cheatham (the executive director of the local Religion & Labor Network of Austin), and this Saturday they are having a benefit.
Since our eyelids are playing footsie with the keyboard, and we belong in bed and not blogging (especially after a terribly depressing in-the-last-lucky-
13-seconds-of-the-game loss by the Texas State Bobcats), we are going to do the unthinkable and quoth, darn-close to verbatim, what they sent out on Craigslist to encourage folks to come.
Sorry, too tired for pithy tonight. Just go (and
good night).
11/17: Benefit Concert for Creative Spirit Church (United Church of Christ)
Creative Spirit, UCC, a developing new church in South Austin, led by Pastor Carla Cheatham, will host a benefit concert Saturday, November 17, 6pm, at United Christian Church,
3500 W. Parmer, Austin, TX 78727 (just west of Parmer & MoPac). Refreshments will follow. A silent auction will begin at 5:30pm. Free admission – a love offering will be taken.
The concert will feature The Hudsons (voted 2006 Austin's Best Folk Band – The Austin Chronicle), Piney Grove Ramblers (bluegrass) and Denise Kotrla (Austin singer-songwriter).
For more info, contact Pastor Carla Cheatham at 512/527-4455, [email protected] or CreativeSpiritUCC.info.
