Big Freedia, Eurovision Contestant Aiko, and the Dream Syndicate’s Steve Wynn Are Coming to SXSW 2025

The music festival lineup just got bigger

South by Southwest’s second music lineup announcement adds over 150 acts to the March 10-15 festival, including New Orleans bounce queen Big Freedia, Czech Republic Eurovision contestant Aiko, and the Dream Syndicate frontman Steve Wynn.

Other heavy hitters announced to play in Austin include Barcelona indie rockers HEAL; Tokyo-launched electronic sister duo tamanaramen; UK singer-songwriter jasmine.4.t (whose upcoming debut album You Are the Morning arrives next month via Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory Records and was produced by her supergroup boygenius); new-jazz dance collective Steam Down; South Carolina-based alt-rock trio Sweet Spine; and Total Fucking Darkness. Notably, the latter project is a synthpop collaboration between Stars vocalist Torquil Campbell and Young Galaxy guitarist Stephen Ramsay, not the album by metal band Cradle of Filth.

You might recognize some names on the lineup from past local appearances as opening acts and festival performers. New York City singer-songwriter ARSUN opened for Cat Power at Emo’s back in 2018, Fashion Club (the project of Moaning bassist Pascal Stevenson) played with the Breeders last year during an ACL late night show, and Philly shoegazers Her New Knife warmed up the Levitation crowd before Frost Children and Julie this Halloween.

Other, perhaps less recognizable, names pack their own punch. Popular Ghanan artist DarkoVibes raps over playful Afrobeats, masked Ukrainian singer-songwriter Carpetman blends acoustic guitar melodies with pop production, and Chinese producer Chace doles out sleek electro-pop.

As for locals, the Austin-based artists added to the SXSW 2025 bill include Cysum, Daydream Twins, FLAKO STIK, JahleelFaReal, JaRon Marshall, J’cuuzi, Skateland, Somebody Someone, SoundMass, The Tiarras, Vintage Jay, Wes Denzel, and West Texas Exiles.
