Les Dames D’Escoffier to Award Two Women in Hospitality Scholarships

The Austin chapter of Les Dames D’Escoffier, an international nonprofit that supports women in the hospitality industry, is giving away two scholarships to some lucky ladies in the Austin food, beverage, and hospitality scene.

The scholarships’ goals are to aid women in the industry who are pursuing their culinary education: The “Culinary Scholarship” is aimed at those already enrolled in culinary school, and the “Beyond the Classroom Stipend” provides stipends for those already in the workforce who want to elevate their qualifications further, however they see fit.

Examples of opportunities that merit application include the TEXSOM Sommelier Conference, Tales of the Cocktail (for 2020), and the American Cheese Society Certified Cheese Professional Exam. However, the applications are not limited to these; as long as you make a compelling case, you may apply for anything that will “further your career.”

Les Dames D’Escoffier has already awarded more than $85,000 in scholarships to women in Austin alone, so if you’ve been dreaming of becoming a sommelier, now just might be the time to take advantage and take the leap.
