We know the spooky season is just getting started, but we regret to inform you that it’s time to think about Christmas. Tickets went on sale today for Austin’s 57th annual Trail of Lights in Zilker Park. The decidedly frightless event (unless you consider that energy bill) returns this year on select dates, Nov. 27-Dec. 31 in a drive-thru-only format.
General admission prices range from $30-40 per vehicle and passes must be purchased online, as tickets will not be sold at the park. Passes cover admission for up to nine passengers in the vehicle. So, all you stretch Hummer and clown car owners will be charged extra depending on the excessive number of occupants.
The Trail of Lights Fun Run will also be done virtually this year. Registration includes a T-shirt, swag, and access to a 3-mile course around Downtown Austin landmarks festooned with Xmas cheer.
The Trail of Lights stopped allowing pedestrians to walk the trail last year due to COVID-19.
“While we had hoped to have guests walking through the lights this year, we had to look at the current event guidelines, consult with key constituents, and make a definitive decision now,” said Rachel Green, president of the Trail of Lights Foundation via a press release. “A drive-thru format in 2021 ensures we will have a successful 57th year.”
