Happy Single Awareness Day!
By Rachel Holtin, 2:13PM, Thu. Feb. 12, 2015
Valentine's Day: the holiday that rolls around every year regardless of your current relationship status. If you're reading, you probably range from a hopeless romantic to someone who tends to hide away every February 14.
But fear not singles, because this Valentine’s Day we want you to leave your emotional baggage toward this so-called "Hallmark" holiday at the door. Austin has a party theme tailored just for you.
You can dance the night away, or swoon over your love at a show. Heck, in Austin you can even order a $30,000 margarita for your Valentine complete with diamond earrings. If that's not your style though, there are also an array of parties that celebrate adversely. We like to refer to these as the "Anti-Valentine's Day" parties. Singles rejoice, because we've categorized an extensive list of where you can celebrate in 2015. Bring your mom, your dog, your college buddy, etc. and forget about the ones you left behind.
You’ll have a killer time kicking off Valentine’s Day at ABGB’s Dead Sweethearts Ball. Look forward to some murder and mayhem this Friday the 13th, along with music from some of Austin’s greatest local talent.
2) Gourdough's Public House: BIG. FAT. Anti-Valentine’s Party (Saturday 7-10pm)Visit Gourdough’s at their newest location Downtown, or keep it classic on South Lamar. Take out any aggression you might still be feeling toward an ex-lover by swinging at a heart-shaped piñata, or bring a photograph and throw some darts. Don’t worry, you won’t have to listen to any sappy love songs either. Here it’ll be all about the heart-felt breakup music. Indulge in a Nutty Valentine doughnut, and a heartbreak-curing cocktail. Today is your day, and no one can take that from you!

Looking for that new special someone this Valentine’s Day? The Goodnight and Austin’s Social Circle present "Be Our Valentine," an event all about singles mingling. Dress up in that sexy little cocktail dress or suit you’ve been itching to wear, and flirt the night away. Tickets are $7, and guests can expect a special little surprise at the end of the evening.
4) Rainey Street: #LuvSucks Pub Crawl (Friday 9pm-12mid)Nothing like a little bar-hopping to cure your heartache this Valentine’s Day. After all, Austin’s bar scene rarely seems to disappoint. Start at Container Bar then make your way to Clive and Bar 96. Who knows? By the end of the night you may even find a new love.
