Lose Yourself "Somewhere in Time" With Inherit Austin

Fall Fundraiser happens November 16 at Elisabet Ney Museum

Lose Yourself

Inherit Austin, the youth membership of Preservation Austin, holds its annual fundraiser on Sunday, November 16. Formosa, Elisabet Ney's historic studio and home, welcomes guests for dinner, drinks, music, and a silent auction, starting at 5pm.

Inherit Austin has its own tradition of holding its yearly benefit gala at unusual historic locations. Past events have been held at Boggy Creek Farms, Oakwood Cemetery, Texas Military Forces Museum at Camp Mabry, and Moore's Crossing Bridge. Formosa is unique because its builder and only resident was herself eccentric. In 1892, European portrait sculptress Elisabet Ney (1833-1907) purchased property in Austin, established a studio and named it Formosa. She then resumed her career as a noted sculptor of famous people. At the turn of the 19th century, Formosa became a salon, or a gathering place for influential Texans drawn to “Miss Ney” and to the stimulating discussions of politics, art, and philosophy that took place there. Following Ney’s death in 1907, her studio and its contents were preserved as the Elisabet Ney Museum.

Tickets for the evening are $100 per person. Proceeds from the event benefit the advocacy and education programs of Preservation Austin and the upkeep of the Elisabet Ney Museum. Purchase tickets here.
