Lou Berney to give reading from his new book 'Gutshot Straight'
By Kimberley Jones, 5:42PM, Tue. Dec. 29, 2009

All most Hollywood scribes had to show for the 2007 writers’ strike was a strike beard, but Lou Berney went and wrote himself a novel – and a well-reviewed one at that.
Publishers Weekly calls Gutshot Straight a “fast-moving caper novel, which smoothly blends humor, action and romantic frisson,” and Booklist piped in that “[t]he estimable Elmore Leonard might be very pleased to call Gutshot Straight his own.” Talent, apparently, is built into the DNA: Berney’s cousins include local writer Stephen Harrigan (The Gates of the Alamo) and indie film mover and shaker Bob Berney (Picturehouse, Apparition).
Lou Berney will give a reading at the Barnes & Noble (Arboretum) on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 7pm, the day after Gutshot Straight hits shelves. For more info about the book, go here.
