Bedside Manner: Station to Station
I always have a few books going in different areas of the house: bed, bag, bathroom, etc. (incidentally, if you happen to be opening a bookstore, feel free to call it Bed, Bag and Bathroom, because that would be awesome). Bedside Manner: Black Holes, Fake Legs, and the Shaggs
First things first: I've been sleeping with Neil deGrasse Tyson for about a year now. As you can see, my handsome astrophysicist's Death by Black Hole is on top. Hey there, intrepid News staffer Wells Dunbar, turning those powers of perception inward today, for this voyeuristic glimpse into my inner sanctuary. Well, at least it was a good excuse to tidy up.

"In the summer of 1963, when I was thirteen, I stabbed my father in the chest with a Davy Crockett Explorers pocketknife." How's that for a killer first sentence?

William Kuhn Finds Jackie Onassis at Work
When I started working as an assistant at Doubleday in January 1989, it was with more anticipation than usual for an entry-level college grad moving to New York to work in book publishing: Jackie Onassis's office was down the hall, and she was expected back from the winter holiday.
