Don't Get Sick with the Totally Awesome AusChron Newscast!
After a bout with the Swine Flu last week (eek!), the Newscast is back with mad agenda items: the collapse of the yogurt shop prosecutions, fallout from the Water Treatment Plant No. 4 decision last week, and more on council's prohibition on police-performed blood draws. (A technical error made the mics run a little low this week, so crank it up to 11!)

Austin Film Festival: A 'Precious' Experience
The first time I picked up Sapphire’s Push, I had to abandon it. The book is raw and I was too shaken to stay with the story of an overweight, abused, African American teenager with the painfully ironic name Claireece Precious Jones.

These Boots Are Made For Walkin'
The day I picked up my vintage grey-and-white Steve Madden leather boots from the Austin Shoe Hospital, complete with a new, firm sole and a fresh coat of protectant, I knew I'd made the right choice when I scooped them up from a tiny thrift store on South Lamar early last year. Not everyone is as savvy.

Gold Stars... for Citizenship, Sexual Expression, and Now, SOCCER!
It's not like it's difficult to crack jokes about gay boys playing soccer… Gay Pimp's "Soccer Practice," anyone? But after watching Austin's Gold Stars play, I'm afraid they might (excuse the parlance) cut a bitch.
