Foundation Doubles Your Food Pantry Gift
Nutrition is a key tool in managing HIV disease, but AIDS and poverty go hand-in-hand, making an adequate, specific diet hard to achieve. ASA's Food Pantry is one of the important services we provide to HIV-positive individuals and their families. And as the economy has worsened, Food Pantry visits have increased, up 12% over last year, even as government support falters. This is true for food pantries nationwide, as Michael King noted in the Chronicle last week.
To help ease the crunch, the Feinstein Foundation of Cranston, RI, has announced a program to match all donations made during April to food and nutrition programs throughout the country. What this means is that, by making a donation to the Food Pantry, you will enable ASA to get your donation matched dollar-for-dollar by the Feinstein Foundation. Your donation will be doubled, helping us keep up with the increase in demand for Food Pantry services.
Feinstein is the founder of the Center for a Hunger Free America at the University of Rhode Island and the International Famine Center at Tufts.
To be eligible for this matching program, donations must be received before April 30 and marked for "Feinstein/food pantry" in the memo section. To take advantage of this incredibly generous opportunity at doubling the impact of your gift, contributions may be sent to Food Pantry, ASA, PO Box 4874, Austin, TX 78765.
