A woman in South Africa is four times as likely to be raped as a woman in the United States.
Between June 10 and Sept. 22, 1692, 20 men and women and two dogs in Salem, Mass. were found guilty and sentenced to death for witchcraft. In 1711, the General Assembly of Massachusetts pardoned all but six of those executed, but neither of the dogs.
