Bad Dog Comedy Theater Hosts B.O.S.S. Benefit Oct. 25

On next Wednesday, October 25, Bad Dog Comedy Theater presents "Two Hours of Comedy and Fun" to benefit the B.O.S.S. Project. The B.O.S.S. Project is a collaborative effort of eight local HIV/AIDS agencies helping HIV+ African-Americans to access medical services and support.

In Travis County, African-Americans make up only 9% of the population but 28% of new AIDS cases. By supporting infected folks with issues of adherence, self-reliance, and self-esteem, B.O.S.S. peers assist them in rediscovering the desire and ability to provide for themselves.

In addition to raising funds for B.O.S.S., the comedy night also wants to raise awareness about AIDS and available services and to provide a fun evening for supporters and those living with HIV.

Bill O'Bryant will host, with opening remarks by State Rep. Dawnna Dukes. Comedian Kelvin Girdy, host of "The Juice & Jam Morning Show" on KAZI 88.7FM, will headline a long lineup of local comedians. A $5 donation is requested, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the B.O.S.S. Project. "Two Hours of Comedy and Fun" will take place at 8:00pm on Wednesday, October 25, at Bad Dog Comedy Theater, 110 East Riverside Drive. For information about the show, call 804-2364. For more information about the B.O.S.S. Project, contact Joe Barnes at 406-6162.
