"A Streetcar Named Desire" actually existed in New Orleans in the earlier part of this century. Tennessee Williams created a clever double entendre using the name of the trolley line that ran east of the French Quarter to Desire (pronounced de-zi-ray) Street. The area is now serviced by RTA Bus (Route 82).
