Now we all know that those tote bags SXSW conference guests get are always this year’s to-die-for fashion accessory. But what’s the story behind the Grindhouse poster on the film conference bag? Why doesn’t the picture for Quentin Tarantino‘s DeathProof mention Kurt “Snake Plisken” Russell? Why doesn’t the girl with the machinegun leg look like exactly like Rose McGowan? And why is the gun on the wrong leg?

Well, according to co-director Robert Rodriguez, who designed the poster, this was the mock-up illustration he did to give investors and stars what the h-e-double-hockey-sticks he and QT were up to with their gonzo product.
