It’s almost Christmas, which means it’s a solid diet if blockbusters and Oscar bait at the multiplexes. It feels like every film out there is a must-see, but who has two hours free? So how’s about five minutes of gruesome, giggly fun with Austin-made “We Summoned a Demon”?

It’s the latest in Austin director Chris McInroy’s trilogy of hilariously grisly horror-comedy shorts, following from “Bad Guy #2” and “Death Metal.” After closing out an unbelievable run of 120 festival bookings last weekend with a homecoming screening at Other Worlds Austin, now it’s online at McInroy’s Vimeo page.

Look for a whole unholy host of familiar local names involved in this five minutes of craziness, including Kirk Johnson (The Unicorn), FX master Eric Zapata, and Garth Manor cofounder and Renegade Studios COO Kris Phipps. Now sit back, light your candles, slaughter a chicken, and enjoy “We Summoned a Demon.”
