Welcome to Now Streaming in Austin, highlighting locally made titles to watch while self-quarantining.
Around here, we celebrate all holidays equally … Star Wars holidays, that is.

With yesterday being May the Fourth, i.e. Star Wars day, we rewatched Austin’s own documentary about the gamechanging franchise, The Prequels Strike Back: A Fan’s Journey. Yet the legacy of George Lucas’ story of a galaxy far, far away can’t be contained in just one homage.

So today, take three minutes for Sith day (Revenge of the Fifth) with the music video for “Tatooine” by Jeremy Messersmith. Animated by another previous Now Streaming in Austin artist, Eric Power, it was his breakthrough work as a cutout animation expert (using paper and stop motion techniques to create life), and a heartfelt love letter to the original trilogy. Power told the Chronicle, “I feel like Jeremy and I were operating on the same wavelength here and everything just gelled.”
